By train from Nîmes

The regional TER liO train runs directly from Nîmes to Aigues-Mortes. The station is about 450 metres from the ramparts — a short, flat walk to the walls, with no parking to arrange.

From Montpellier

There's no direct train from Montpellier, so rail travellers usually change at Nîmes. Driving is straightforward either way: Aigues-Mortes is about 33 km south-west of Nîmes and under an hour from Montpellier by road.

Driving in

From Nîmes, the A9 motorway links to the roads running south to Aigues-Mortes; the final stretch crosses flat marshland with the ramparts rising on the horizon. Park outside the walls and walk in through one of the gates.

Parking and arriving

Parking around the town can fill up on busy summer days, so arriving earlier helps with parking as much as with the heat. From the car parks it's a short walk through one of the fortified gates into the town.
